Grant funding is usually offered by development banks or developmental financiers. It is a type of funding that does not have to be repaid back to the lender. The financier usually has a mandate to uplift businesses, especially new fledgling business that need a hand up. Most times financiers will look at the future business case to make their determination to injecting this type of funding.

Developmental financiers often stipulate what the money should be used for and cannot be withdrawn from the business.
Generally speaking granting funding is used for capital expenditure or up-skilling businesses.Development financiers may also place other restrictions on to the business.

Other variants of grant funding may include what some call a soft loan. A soft loan is where a developmental financier may offer favourable terms, like payment holidays or no interest payable only the actual principal amount.

You should ask your lender if they offer such loans. Grant funding and soft loan can really be a leg up for a business.
